The Polish Radio Katowice is the largest regional broadcasting radio station in Poland. It relies on high technology and 95 years of Silesian tradition. It is attracting millions of listeners in the Upper Silesia, south-western Poland, as well as Czechia and Slovakia. The Radio is involved in the matters that affect people living in the Region, featuring the news, editorials, reports, sports and cultural events, and good music. The Radio is appreciated for its educational programmes. To be as close to its listeners as possible, the Radio operates four local studios in Bielsko-Biała, Częstochowa, Gliwice and Zawiercie. The Polish Radio Katowice is the principle organiser and sponsor of such events as the Silesian Dialect Contest "Po naszymu czyli po śląsku" or the National Spelling Test "Dyktando." Both are extremely popular. The Radio is staffed by awarded professional journalists (e.g. Golden Microphone or The Prix Italia). The Radio has a large collection of recorded music. Some albums produced by the Polish Radio Katowice obtained "The Golden Record" status. The Radio Katowice Recording Studio is one of the most technologically and acoustically advanced studios in southern Poland, hosting e.g. Leszek Możdżer, "Myslovitz" or "The Silesian Quartet" who recorded their hits there.
